Retaliation is one of the most common—and most aggressive—tools employers use.


You complain about discrimination.
You report wage violations.
You request medical leave.
You raise concerns about unlawful conduct.


Months, weeks, or even just moments later, a shadow is cast over your job. It can be as subtle as no longer getting invited to join for lunch, or as overt as a “sudden restructuring” leaving you out in the cold. In either case, your employer insists that it has nothing to do with anything you ever said or did.


But the law protects employees who speak up. Employers know this, and often try to cloak retaliation in paperwork and pretext.
